My name is Carole and I work for a women’s organization in Kenya. Among the activities to be implemented this year is a project aiming at setting up women self-help groups in Kiberia. Located in Nairobi, Kiberia is the largest turban slum in Africa.
The overall goal of the project
is the economic independence for the women. Each self-group will work
towards creating and selling traditional jewelry and handicrafts from
Kenya.
Funds for the project are limited and there is the need for voluntary participation.
This blog is to highlight the activities that are taking place in assisting the Kibera Women to become empowered and to gain economic independence.
